Fuselage and general component layout

Before glueing the two halves together this is the general electronics layout.  I'm planning on using a 4S 5000mAh for the motor and a 3S 2200mAh for everything else.

The tail now has a ply insert which I'll drill and use for hanging the plane up from a hook.  Might also come in handy as a tail wheel mount if I go undercarriage later.  There's an extra carbon ribbon cut into the vertical stab for strength.

The servos have some slack cable to make them easier to replace from the outside later.  The top of the carbon boom tube has a slot cut in it to allow the servo cables to exit.  The spare cable is for powering LEDs in the tail.

The two halves are glued together with 1 hour epoxy and masking tape holds it all together.  So far the tail looks straight in line although I perhaps wish I'd routed the LED cable in the tail a bit differently - maybe to a socket to make the horiz stab removable.

The KK2 board is easy to reach through the side door.  It's been cable tied to a foam square which was gorilla glued to the fuselage wall.  So it's removable but still pretty firmly held.

Motor mount

I wanted the motor to be removable so the supplied ply disc had to be modified to accept the M3 bolts from the wider motor mount.  I cut another disc with a diameter wide enough to take the mount.

I made some cutouts in the supplied disc to allow the outer bolt heads to sit flat.  The two discs were then expoxied together and the outer bolt holes were drilled.  Everything was then assembled tight to ensure alignment.

The bolt heads were then expoxied in.  The supplied inner disc still fits into the foam recess on the fuselage so it will locate centrally.

Camera mount platform

The platform for mounting the GoPro, video Tx, etc is cut from 3mm plywood.  I copied the profile from the foam canopy that came with the kit.

After a couple of slots have been added the two sections fit together.

Later I'll need to drill a small hole near the front for the screw which hold the platform down onto the nose.

I cut a hole for the tx cable and GoPro video leads to go through.  The OSD and GPS modules will probably be fixed on the bottom of the platform.

Added some corners to keep the right angles tight and then the foam pads at the back which will squeeze into the fuselage roof.
